Possum's Full Brother Wins the Open Finals at the NRHA Futurity!
Many of you know how excited we are about our new prospect Spooks Gotta Run, a 2008 bay Stallion sired by Spooks Gotta Gun out of PrettyWhizPrettyDoes by Topsail Whiz. "Possum" is marked to be the next junior sire at Jeffcoat Quarter Horses. Great news from the Futurity...Possum's full brother marked a 221 & 225 (making the Open Finals) on a catch ride a few days ago and then won the Level 4 Open Futurity with a 227. Makes us even more excited about this colt's future!
Possum is by Spooks Gotta Gun and out of the great mare, PrettyWhizPrettyDoes. He is the second of this cross and we are already seeing him do the impressive maneuvers of his famous brother,Spooks Gotta Whiz. Better still is the mind of this colt. After his start at Haverty Ranch, Possum has been trained exclusively by a non-pro. He never says no and always loves to show. Maneuvers come so easy for him and he does them with style.
NRHA Futurity Champions Level 2 Non Pro & Primetime!
Possum and Mike couldnt avoid those darn "Penalty Demons" during the first go and then consolation round at the NRHA Futurity. But they got it all put together in the First Section Non Pro Finals to win the Level 2 and Primetime and placing 4th in the Level 3. Earning just a little over $35,000 at this show, the duo also won some incredible prizes including a 100x Shortys hat, Anderson Bean boots, Rios of Mercedes full-quill ostrich boots, a Bob's custom saddle, Montana Silversmith's buckles, Aqequan, Gift Certificates from Pard's, Smart Pak and Kyle Tack, stirrups, spur straps, 50 lbs of Platinum Performance and I am sure other things I forgot to mention. What a dream come true! Congrats Mike & Possum.

September Slide Futurity Champions!
Possum and Mike won both the Level 2 & 4 Non Pro Futurities at the San Angelo September Slide! The duo made their best out this year, marking a 72.5 and a 73 for a combined score of 145.5! The pair came home with their first Morrison and Pewter plus a few goodies courtesy of the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo who hosted the event.
SWRHA Level 2 and Primetime Champions! Mike and Possum marked a 220.5 (with 2 penalty points) at the SWRHA Non-Pro Futurity. Read all about it by clicking here.
